Choose the final display position before the programme reaches cake cutting
Move the cake as little as possible once it has been safely placed. If the venue has a dedicated cake table, check the background and make sure the important side of the cake faces the direction guests and the photographer will see.
Clear unrelated items such as bags, used plates or drinks from the immediate area before the cake is brought into the main photograph.
Capture the design before the serving process begins
Ask for a few cake-only images and close details before candles are blown out or slices are removed. Then photograph the recipient, group or company team with the cake. This sequence preserves both the baker's work and the celebration moment.
If the cake has a message, age, logo or themed topper, point it out so the photographer does not accidentally shoot only the less informative side.
Build the photo moment into the timeline
For an event with speeches or a meal, agree roughly when the cake will be presented. A five-minute photography window is easier to manage when everyone knows it is coming than when the cake appears unexpectedly during another activity.
Share delivery or collection timing separately with Moh Bakes so the cake can arrive before the photo moment without spending unnecessary time on display.
