Keep the box flat and stable
Use a flat surface with enough space for the cake box and prevent it from sliding. Car seats are often angled, so check the surface before placing a tall or delicate cake there.
- Flat support
- No loose items around the box
- Enough clearance above decorations
Control heat and movement
Keep the vehicle cabin reasonably cool, avoid direct sunlight on the cake and use gentle acceleration, braking and cornering. Plan the route so the cake is not left in a parked hot vehicle.
- Cool cabin
- Smooth driving
- Direct route
Follow the bakery's cake-specific instructions
Different fillings and decorations can have different storage needs. Ask at handover whether the cake should be chilled, when it should be served and whether its structure requires any extra care.
