Choose what everyone shares
Start with the common reason they are together: the same workplace, family celebration, birthday month, class or friendship group. That shared context can become the design anchor through colours, wording or a clean celebration style.
If the people have very different tastes, avoid forcing all interests onto the cake. A neutral group concept can feel more considered than a crowded collection of unrelated symbols.
Decide how names and ages will appear
For two or three people, individual names may fit comfortably. For a larger group, a message such as 'Happy Birthday Team' or 'August & September Babies' can be clearer, with names handled elsewhere if needed. Share the exact wording before production so spelling and order are intentional.
Ages can be included selectively, omitted entirely or represented as a shared milestone only when that makes sense for the group.
Plan size from the whole event, not the number of names
The number of celebrants does not determine how much cake is needed. Share the total guest count, other desserts and serving plan. A group office cake may need to serve many non-celebrants, while a family cake with several names may be for a small table.
Moh Bakes confirms size, decoration and price from the complete brief rather than guessing from the number of people whose names appear on top.
