Replace the number with meaningful identity
Use the person's name, nickname, favourite colour combination, profession, interest or a short phrase that suits them. A heart cake, elegant colour-led cake, chocolate direction or bold drip style can all communicate personality without an age topper.
If you are unsure what they like, ask people close to them for one or two dependable clues rather than inventing a very specific theme.
Choose wording that works in photos
Simple phrases such as 'Happy Birthday, Amina' or a personal short message remain readable and timeless. Avoid turning the cake into a long written card. The cake can carry the headline while a card, speech or WhatsApp message carries the full note.
Confirm the exact spelling and punctuation before production, especially for surprise orders placed by someone else.
Tell the baker explicitly that age should not appear
If privacy is important, state it clearly in the order brief so a default number topper or age reference is not added from assumptions. Share a reference design only for the visual parts you actually want to keep.
The final cake size, flavour, decoration and price are still confirmed from the rest of the order details.
