Soft Mandazi Recipe

Soft mandazi is one of the easiest tea-time snacks to enjoy at home. This recipe is simple, budget-friendly and good for breakfast, tea breaks and family snacks.

  1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cardamom in a bowl.
  2. Rub in margarine or butter until the flour looks slightly crumbly.
  3. Add egg if using, then add milk slowly while mixing.
  4. Knead into a soft dough and rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut into triangles or squares.
  6. Fry in medium-hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Drain and serve warm with tea.
